ABOUT

Escot Gardens, Maze and Forest Adventure

Award-winning visitor attraction Escot is set in 220 acres of stunning private parkland in the heart of East Devon and offers a great family day out.

Meet rare red squirrels in our new walk-through enclosure (one of the only places in the UK where you can get up close to these adorable animals), negotiate the fantasy woodland complete with a hidden playgrounds and a knee-trembling forest drop slide. Try to keep up with the children as they complete the intriguing letterboxing trail and get yourself lost in the world-class Beech Hedge Maze: it’s a real challenge with its five hedge-leaping bridges.

Escot is known as ‘The Natural Place’ for good reason. Peacocks roam free and threatened native species such as the secretive water vole have found sanctuary in surroundings steeped in history and filled with plants and magnificent champion trees. Come and meet our cheeky family of otters and see wild boar who in days gone by would have roamed free across the estate. Birds of prey and owls feature in our amazing daily falconry displays (spring and summer)and the indoor play barn is perfect for wet weather days. For a well-earned break the Coach House restaurant serves delicious home-cooked lunches using local ingredients and fabulous devon cream teas as well as snacks and specialist teas and coffees. There’s a natural surprise waiting around every corner, so come and visit us soon!

IM HUNGRY!

The Coach House Restaurant serves delicious home-cooked lunches, cream teas, snacks and refreshments all day. The Snack Shack serves snacks and ice creams during the summer and the Ice Cream bike serves ice cream at various locations throughout the park. There is a drink / snack vending machine in the indoor play barn. Visitors may also bring their own picnics as there are many beautiful picnic spots throughout the park.

TOP TIPS!

Dress for the weather! Most of Escot is outdoors so if it is wet bring wellies so that you can jump in puddles! Don’t wear your best coat / clothes we want you to explore, climb, run and have fun which may mean you get mucky! There are paths around most of Escot that are suitable for all –terrain buggies. You are welcome to bring a picnic and well-behaved dogs are welcome though they must be kept on a lead (dog entrance fee is 50p). Much of Escot is wheelchair accessible but we do ask that visitors with a disability contact us so that we can help to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
